Revitalize Meri-Toppila Closing Festival 2025

The Oulu Sound Collective ry was invited to host and curate the experimental sound stage at the closing festival of the Revitalize Meri-Toppila initiative. The event served as the creative culmination of the year-long workshop, showcasing temporary community-built structures, live performances by local artists and musicians, and an open-air celebration of experimental music and culture.

On-site, OSC members Konekaverit (Basti Kuhz & Jussi Alaraasakka), Salatietotoimisto, and Tähtimottoori took the stage alongside guest performers, transforming the open festival space into an immersive sonic environment.

Rhythmic, highly responsive to the audience, and delightfully nerdy — that's how you can describe the live experience of Konekaverit. The jam-based improvisational collective treats their hardware ("kones") not as tools, but as collaborators ("kaverit"), giving each machine an active, conversational role in the ensemble. For this performance, the duo brought a curated rig of synthesizers, drum machines, and even a few 3D-printed sound components, delivering tightly structured yet freely improvisational electronic sound art that blurred the line between composition and live exploration.
