Arctic Electronic Music Meetup 2026 – Luleå, Sweden

🌍 Concept & Framework

The Arctic electronic music scene spans long distances, fragmented infrastructure, and historically isolated local networks. AEM 2026 was created to bridge these gaps: bringing together artists, producers, DJs, festival organizers, labels, researchers, and institutions from northern Sweden, Norway, and Finland into a shared physical and creative space.

The goal was simple but ambitious: increase regional visibility, foster cross-border relationships, and establish a recurring platform for professional exchange and collaborative practice.

🎤 My Contributions

🖨️ Kinetic Performance at Kulturens Hus

I presented a live set using my repurposed 3D printer as a generative instrument. The performance transformed the machine's rhythmic, mechanical motion into a site-responsive audio event, exploring how algorithmic processes intersect with improvisational sound art in public festival contexts.

📜 Conference Performance & Conceptual Pamphlet

As part of the conference program, I developed and performed a dedicated piece that examined the boundaries between human gesture, machine logic, and acoustic experimentation. As president of Oulu Sound Collective ry, I represented OSC on this cross-border stage — bridging Finnish experimental sound practices with Nordic industry networks.

To contextualize the work, I wrote an accompanying pamphlet that unpacks the methodology, material choices, and philosophical framework behind the performance:

🌐 Event Context & Structure

Spanning three days, AEM 2026 blended industry development, hands-on creation, and public presentation. The program included:

🔮 Impact & Vision

Beyond individual panels or performances, AEM 2026's lasting value lies in the structural dialogue and relationships it initiated. The event catalyzed conversations around artist exchanges, shared residencies, co-produced events, and regional visibility.

By aligning distinct scenes from Oulu, Tromsø, Umeå, and Luleå, the project demonstrated that northern electronic music is not a collection of isolated localities, but a dynamic, interconnected network.

The ambition is for AEM to become a rotating, recurring gathering — a persistent platform where artists, organizers, and institutions can meet, create, and amplify their work across Arctic borders.
