Järjetymys (Absurdity)
Experimental Poetry Performance · Oulu 2026
🌑 Concept & Intent
The world no longer makes sense to me. In that uncertainty, I turned to the Dadaist tradition—seeking meaning not through explanation, but through absurdity, play, and deliberate fragmentation.
At the same time, this piece emerged from a positive relationship with silence: the vast, quiet pauses of living in subarctic Oulu.
Rather than offering answers, Järjetymys asks:
Is it the punctuation marks? The space between?
Or both?
Is it even a poem—or a performance?
📜 The Work
The piece exists in omission. It relies on rhythm, pause, and white space as structural elements.
What is left unsaid carries equal weight to what is spoken, inviting listeners to confront the edges of language and meaning. The silence is not empty; it is active, responsive, and open to interpretation.
👥 Audience Reaction
The performance sparked confusion, laughter, and quiet reflection. Several audience members described mentally "filling the gaps" with their own words—transforming passive listening into active co-creation.
Some even imagined picking up pens to complete what was left unwritten.

🎭 Athens Performance — Platforms Project 2026
During the Platforms Project in Athens (2026), I performed "Järjetymys" again — this time with a special twist. The poem was displayed on a small Raspberry Pi screen, which I carried directly to people, showing them the mini-poem up close.
An intimate, personal encounter with absurd text — away from the big stage, toward conversation.
