Andruids Collective

Jam-based improvisational The Andruids collective operated as a duo (Jussi and Petri) since 2018 but expanded its line-up in 2024 (Basti Kuhz). Jussi from Ii(FI), Since 1993, he is DJ, sound designer, musician and workshop leader. Currently, he explores sound art in VR/AR applications. Petri from Oulu (FI), bass player since forever, bends synthesizer circuits since 2013. The latest entry Basti, explores sounds of 3D printers in spatial stages after quitting his big pharma engineering job in 2022.

The Andruids plays music that is hard to describe.

The jam-based improvisational music group that previously operated as a duo (Jussi and Petri) has expanded its line-up (Basti Kuhz) and, among other things, its musical output. Now we can expect even more surprising performance: a 360° multichannel spatial ambisonic performance, utilizing 4 or even 8 speakers to perceive a fully immersive performance experience.

The Andruids plays modern electronic music all across from marginal to popular sound. The fundamentals are somewhat ritualistic muzak, unpredictable monotonic, structured improvisation, surprisingly same tongue-in-the-cheek style.

During the performance, we will use a range of synthesizers as well as 3D printers with contact microphones, which can be used for sound creation but also for spatialisation. Furthermore, DJ equipment will be used + ambisonic audio processing for using 4+ multichannel speaker systems.

Why should we continue listening to stereo sound if there is multichannel ambisonic's, which enhances performance experiences for audience and performers?
