(un)intended use of 3D printers
(Un)intended use of 3D-printers workshop, Athens 2025
Basti Kuhz in collaboration with Esto Association are presenting the outcome of the workshop
"Intended and unintended use of a 3D printer" supported by the European union and Goethe institute.
The workshop was held in two weekends 11-12 and 18-19 of January and it was designed to explore both the intended and creative, unintended use of 3D printers.
Participants gained hands-on experience with 3D object design, programming, and the artistic transformation of technology.
The research and work that was produced during the second part of the workshop that focus on reimagining the 3D printer as an artistic object itself has been presented on 19JAN25. Participants were guided to repurpose the printer to create an interactive artwork, installation or using the 3D printer as an instrument.
As part of the 3D print workshop, I was having a performance in which I used the 3D printer as music instrument and as means of spatializing sound, which was mapped binaural ambisonic and can be listened to here - put headphones on!
How would you (un)use a 3D printer?
